Quincy Morris, a distant descendant of Trevor Belmont, kept Dracula at bay.[4]

Guglielmo Marconi began to transmit and receive a variety of radio frequency signals; the first of which included the mysterious “numbers stations”.[5]

  • Spring: Bram Stoker’s novel, Dracula, was published. This caused great concern amongst the vampire community, who labeled Dracula as a sellout for making their vulnerabilities public knowledge to terrans.[6][7]
  • November 6: Dracula, with a bolt from Abraham Van Helsing's crossbow in his side, wrote a letter accusing Bram Stoker of perjury, Jonathan Harker of being addled on opium, and Van Helsing having been descended from a family of charlatan’s with a long-running enmity with Dracula’s family. This letter also revealed his plan to leave another vampire in his place, to be staked by the vampire hunters. In addition, the letter contained a curse that whosoever first found it would be victims of his vampire legions, the Children of the Night. The letter would not be read for many years.[9]
  • December – Jonathan and Wilhelmina Murray divorced after their return to London. In some financial hardship, Mina Murray took employment with British Intelligence.[10]
